We’re seeking a software tester to join our Learning Platforms team at Kineo, in Brighton. You will be an experienced software tester looking for a new challenge to forward your career, or you may already be in s senior position and wish to use your skills and knowledge in a different environment.
About the role
You will join the team as a senior software tester where you will design tests and data to demonstrate to project stakeholders that the software works, or does not work, as expected. You will design test cases that are data centric and BDT based (Gherkin/Cucumber). Your existing hands-on knowledge and experience of software testing will allow you to come on board and add benefit to an existing team and support team members. You may work in an Agile-like environment, but you should also be comfortable with waterfall models.
You will work closely with developers and solution architects, contributing to solution designs, creating test plans, test cases, perform testing activities and managing detailed Jira tickets. You will provide advice to project teams from a testing, testability and quality point of view. You will be able to analyse problems, understanding their meaning and put in place solutions for testing and recording of the results.
The product you will be testing is mostly web based and you’ll need to develop a good understanding of the data being presented to determine the outcome of tests. You may have SQL knowledge to aid you in this. Your role will also include testing against mobile apps and APIs, so knowledge of API testing technologies would be a benefit.
We need someone with significant previous software testing experience, either already in a lead role or ready for the challenge. You must have a good understanding of the whole software lifecycle and of bug tracking systems, such as Jira/Bugzilla. You'll need to take on challenges and be an authority, as well as being able to work effectively in team. You'll need a keen eye for detail with a technical and acquisitive mind adept at solving problems. You will also need the ability to model test data and design testing scenarios. With excellent verbal and written communication skills, you'll need a good understanding of BDT, Gherkin/Cucumber.
It would be a bonus if you have any of the following: experience of using Moodle/Totara or similar digital learning management systems; experience of testing APIs, SOUPUI; an understanding of Jira and Git workflows; and an understanding of automation technologies, Behat/Selenium.
