Project Editor

City & Guilds Group is recruiting a full time and permanent Project Editor position to join the business to sit within our Digital Learning Resources team. 

You'll be commissioning authors, reviewers, illustrators, freelance copy editors, proof readers, typesetters, and developers, to enable the creation of new digital learning materials. This will involve scheduling milestones and deliverables for multiple projects – liaising with internal and external stakeholders to plan and organise workload, ensuring effective and efficient delivery.

This appointment will be made on merit.

About the role

The role will involve managing individual digital projects, planning and managing the development and production of digital learning materials to agreed success criteria, delivery timescales and budget. You'll establish and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, gaining an excellent working knowledge of the industry sectors you are supporting. You'll also make sure you provide product information in support of product releases in a timely and accurate manner.

A Project Editor will create and maintain project control documents, including project briefs and risk and issue logs to ensure activities are clearly defined, assigned and actioned. You'll also make sure you communicate the schedule, and progress against it, to all relevant parties. Monitoring project risks, issues and dependencies, where necessary you'll escalate to the Content Development Manager and Production Manager with recommendations for resolution.

Finally, working with the Content Development Manager and Production Manager, you will ensure budgets and costs are effectively managed and controlled on assigned projects.

About you

You'll need a significant, proven track record of development and production of digital resources for education. With an understanding of digital development and production processes and delivery formats, you also need an excellent standard of written English and an eye for detail.

You'll also need a really good understanding of learning methods and styles, and also of good design/pedagogy in digital resources. You must have experience of supplier management with regards to learning products. Finally, you'll need excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, interpersonal and communication skills, and clear business acumen.
