Finance Business Partner perm or FTC opportunity
Intertrain is the UK’s largest commercial railway infrastructure training provider and within our Technical Training business, is part of the City and Guilds Group. In this new role, you’ll assist our Technical Training Finance Director in improving the effectiveness and profitability of technical training delivery.
You will support new business developments as well as taking ownership of the revenues and cost base, gaining a thorough understanding of the internal economics and working practices. You will use this knowledge and insight to systemically deliver a material uplift in the quality and timeliness of commercial decision making, cost analysis, financial comprehension, planning, efficiency and governance
We’re flexible as to where you’re based, but you’ll need to be within reasonable commuting distance of Doncaster. This is a permanent role, but we could hire via an interim or fixed term contract until the substantive role is filled.
About the role
Some of your key responsibilities will include sales booking and revenue analysis – building insight into the courses, locations and trainer skills required to optimise commercial business efficiency. You’ll also be supporting the requirements gathering and redevelopment of the commercial booking engine. For example, contributing to the order data capture and invoicing process as well as identifying metrics and KPI’s to be set up as part of a dashboard and suite of reporting outputs
You’ll support the Intertrain MD and Heads of Function to substantiate new business opportunities and measure and report on existing business initiatives. This will involve the identification of metrics that underpin business performance and create forward looking insights. You’ll create the monthly narrative and forward-looking scenarios to support month end data.
The role will also manage a small transactional finance team.
You must be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of profit and loss accounting, and the accounting treatments for financial transactions. You’ll need commercial acumen and you must be a creative problem solver who brings new ideas and finds new ways of overcoming obstacles.
You must also have a proven track record of communicating with and, when necessary, challenging senior leaders. Finally, you must be highly numerate with the ability to produce accurate reporting and presentations on time and free of errors.
