About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the City & Guilds business unit team. As the finance business partner, you will support the product and marketing team, who develop and market our product portfolio. You will lead the construction of detailed budgets and forecasts, and provide the analysis and insight to ensure their successful delivery. You will be involved in the month end management accounting cycle, ensuring the communication and discussion of results with the product and marketing team.

Central to the role is identifying the respective profitability of products and markets, proposing strategies to repurpose resource, directing it to the most worthy streams and projects.

About You

We are looking for a dynamic individual who can create strong and trustworthy relationships, who sees problems and challenges to overcome and is happy to ‘muck in’ when required. We want someone to come in and make a real impact so if you are a hard-working, passionate and ambitious individual with a positive can-do attitude, we want to hear from you!

We need an excellent multi-tasker who is a natural in building rapport with key stakeholders. You will have expert face-to-face and written communication skills. Even though you will be working in an open and friendly team, you will need to be able to work independently, using your own initiative to make strategic decisions whilst prioritising workloads to meet tight deadlines with impeccable accuracy. Your experience with senior stakeholders will be crucial, being able to support head of functions and senior managers where appropriate on business case assumptions / financials.

Your advice should be based on sound financial principles and some of your solutions will require process improvements that you design. However, it is paramount that you are able to demonstrate sound commercial acumen, problem solving and influencing skills, since being a business partner is mainly about delivering great information, insight and advice.

You’ll be information system savvy, ideally with general ledger and financial planning system experience (we use SAP and Hyperion Essbase) and be able to build logical coherent models and analysis in Excel.
