About the role 

In our Application Support Analyst Apprenticeship, you’ll work in a key part of our IT department and learn how to provide second line support by solving complex issues that require onsite assistance for multiple digital platforms used across the Group and around the world by our customers. 

During your apprenticeship you’ll be involved in: 

  • Providing 2nd line technical support – you’ll help on application, operational and project issues as they arise in order to ensure the smooth running of the supported applications, processes and projects on a day to day basis  

  • Maintaining the hardware and specification of maintenance processes (including conducting training and producing training material on technical and operational procedures) in order to keep resources relevant and user friendly to all users groups. 

  • Providing technical application support – you’ll help our internal staff and external users by ensuring that application demonstration resources and equipment is available and functional at required events. 

  • Supporting application testing – you’ll help ensure that testing evidence is produced to ensure the successful sign-off of new application developments. 

  • Providing technical advice/input - you’ll support application and project teams to ensure the timely and effective delivery of new applications, services and products. 

About you 

We’re looking for candidates who have: 

  • A desire to learn and develop themselves. 

  • Strong IT skills  

  • An interest in working within a technical support role with internal and external customer contacts  

  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills  

  • Basic understanding of web based applications  

  • Experience of building relationships 

  • Experience in working within project environments 

  • Experience communicating customer service messages 

  • Awareness of software packaging and networks 

  • Awareness of ITIL methodologies 

  • Basic Understanding of firewall and proxy rules and purposes 

For this role you will undertake an apprenticeship aligned to the level 3 Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship Standard. 

During your apprenticeship you will also be supported to achieve level 2 maths and English if you have not already attained it. 

In order to enable you to complete your apprenticeship, 20% of your time will be spent taking part in off the job development.
